Computer to Aplio/Phone or Aplio/PRO Communications

Can a computer call my Aplio/PRO or my Aplio/Phone 2.0?
    Yes. Any computer equipped with Microsoft NetMeeting or other compatible software can call an Aplio. See Aplio/PRO or Aplio/PHONE User Guide for more information.
Can a computer call an earlier version of the Aplio/Phone?
    No. PC-to-Aplio/Phone communications are new to Aplio/Phone 2.0. But all earlier versions of the Aplio/Phone can be easily upgraded to version 2.0 for free. See the Upgrading FAQ for details.
Can I call a computer from my Aplio/PRO or my Aplio/Phone 2.0?
    Not currently. The PC user must initiate the call to the Aplio.
What do I need to call an Aplio/PRO or an Aplio/Phone from a PC?
    You need a multimedia computer (with sound card, speakers and a microphone) as well as an Internet account and Internet Telephony software. Microsoft's NetMeeting software is recommended and is available as a free download from the Microsoft web site.

How do I use NetMeeting to call an Aplio/PRO or an Aplio/Phone 2.0?
    First you indicate the gateway number in NetMeeting and then call the Aplio using its unique ID code. The ID code is the serial number without any of the leading zeroes.
    You can use our Aplio/Dialer software with NetMeeting to make your calls even simpler. See the next question for details.
What is Aplio/Dialer?
    Aplio/Dialer is a simple Internet Telephony program that makes it easy to call an Aplio from a PC. To use it, you simply choose a name in the phone book and click on call.
    You must have Microsoft NetMeeting installed on your computer to use the Aplio/Dialer. You can download a free copy of by clicking on www.aplio.com/dialer Microsoft NetMeeting is available free of charge on the Microsoft web site.
Is Aplio/PRO or Aplio/Phone 2.0 H.323 compliant?
    Yes. Aplio/PRO and Aplio/Phone 2.0 comply with the H.323 Internet Telephony protocol.
Can I use any Internet Telephony software to call an Aplio/Phone from my computer?
    Technically, yes. Aplio is H.323 compliant, so you should be able to use any software that is also H.323 compatible. However, as with many computer standards, there can be variations in how the protocol is implemented.
    We have tested Aplio with Microsoft NetMeeting and it works well. Our Aplio/Dialer software works with NetMeeting and makes it very easy to call an Aplio. We are continuing to test other software and will post their names when we are confident that they work well with Aplio.
Is Aplio/PRO or Aplio/Phone 2.0 compatible with Internet Telephony gateways?
    In the near future.
How is the quality of the communication between an Aplio/PRO or an Aplio/Phone and a PC?
    The quality of the communication with PCs depends on the quality of the software being used on the PC. It is different from the quality between two Aplios. For the best quality connection, two Aplios are recommended.
How can I inform my friends and correspondents who want to call my Aplio from their PC?
