Upgrading Aplio/Phone to Version 2.0


Do I need to upgrade if the older firmware version is working well?
    Yes. In addition to the new features of Aplio/Phone 2.0, this firmware upgrade should improve the consistency and reliability of your Aplio/Phone calls as well.
Is there a charge from Aplio to upgrade?
    No. Currently there is no charge for registered Aplio/Phone users to upgrade to firmware version 2.0.
Is there a long-distance charge to upgrade?
    No. Local connection charges (if any) will apply for the duration of the connection.
How long does the upgrade process take?
    The process should take between 15 and 30 minutes. The duration of the upgrade process may vary based on a number of factors including the quality of the phone line, Internet traffic and where you are calling from.
Will Aplio continue to provide technical support for older versions?
    Technical support will be provided for version 2.0.

    Aplio encourages you to upgrade to version 2.0. In addition to the new features, this firmware upgrade should improve the consistency and reliability of your Aplio/Phone calls as well.

    If you can’t upgrade to version 2.0, technical support will be provided for your current Aplio/Phone firmware version.
Can I "downgrade" back to previous versions if I want to?
    Once you begin the download process to upgrade the Aplio/Phone firmware to 2.0, there is no process enabling you to revert to a previous firmware version.
Can all previous Aplio/Phones be upgraded to version 2.0?
    Yes. Any previous version of the Aplio/Phone firmware can be upgraded to version 2.0.
Can an Aplio/Phone with older firmware version call an Aplio/Phone with 2.0 firmware and vice-versa?
    Yes. Any previous version of the Aplio/Phone can call an Aplio/Phone with the new 2.0 firmware and vice-versa.
When is the Aplio/Phone 2.0 upgrade scheduled to be available for download?
    The Aplio/Phone 2.0 upgrade is available right now! Whenever a new upgrade is available, the button on your Aplio/Phone will flash approximately once every ten seconds.
In the US and Canada, how do I block Call Waiting on the Aplio/Phone before upgrading?
Can I stop an upgrade before it is finished?
    No. Once started, do not turn attempt to stop the Aplio/Phone from completing the upgrade process. Doing so may damage the device. If you have Call Waiting, be sure to disable (block) it before upgrading your Aplio/Phone.
How do I upgrade my Aplio/Phone to the 2.0 firmware?
How will I know if the upgrade process has been successful?
    If the upgrade process is successful, your phone will ring. When you answer it, the voice prompt will say, "Upgrade successful" and the and lights will turn off.
How will I know if the upgrade process has been unsuccessful?
    If an error occurred, the and lights will flash rapidly for several seconds. The phone will ring and you will hear an error message when you answer it.
How can I determine what version of the Aplio/Phone firmware I have?
  1. Pick up the receiver on the telephone attached to your Aplio/Phone.
  2. Press the (eco-config) button twice.
  3. The (eco-config) light will blink and you will hear the Main Options menu voice prompts.

  4. When prompted, press 0 on your telephone keypad to enter Extended Configuration mode.
  5. You will hear "Enter parameter code, followed by the pound key."
    Note: If you hear "Invalid code", then 5 instead of 0.

  6. To obtain version information, press code 333#.
    The voice prompts will inform you of the version of your Aplio/Phone.

    You have version 2.0 if the voice prompts say 1 8 0 0 x (example: 1 8 0 0 3).
    You have version 1.5 if the voice prompts say 1 5 0 0 x (example: 1 5 0 0 4).
    You have version 1.0 if the voice prompts say 1 0 x (example: 1 0 4).
